The Unlonely Moms’ Club
A free monthly gathering for moms of kids with support needs — marked by lightness, fun and a giveaway, not by what brought them there.

I love finding joy in unexpected places — and bringing women together is a passion of mine. Getting to combine these two facets of my personality for moms of kids with support needs with The Unlonely Moms’ Club has been a privilege. When not hosting movement- and creative-based events through this nonprofit, I enjoy attending church, taking fitness classes, pouring into my friendships and, most importantly, making memories with my family.
Megan’s story
How did The Unlonely Moms’ Club start?
After our youngest son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, I felt desperately alone. I was surrounded by amazing friends who cared deeply — but I didn’t feel as though my new reality was understood. I wanted to gather moms whose motherhood journeys had been marked with grief and hardship. As powerful as lament is, I wanted our time to be marked by lightness and fun. Each month, we come together for a free movement- or creative-based event, featuring a giveaway. Although I can’t change these moms’ circumstances, I aim to remind them that their needs are important on top of their never-ending caregiving duties.
Each month, I watch moms come who appear visibly downtrodden and watch them leave our events with a fresh demeanor. Oftentimes, this also applies to myself.

What’s a hard lesson you’ve had to learn while building it?
I struggle when our events have limits on attendance. I want everyone who needs this group to be able to attend, but realize this isn’t always possible. While I’m so happy when an event reaches capacity in an hour, it’s hard to turn away women in need of this community.
Your favorite gathering so far?
They have all been special to me for different reasons, but the two I’ve held within my home have been especially meaningful to me.
Give yourself some love — what are you proud of?
We have had every event to date reach capacity. It’s a very exciting feeling.
